sunshine on flowers...

It snowed again on Sunday.
We, again, weren't able to make it to church.
We had some freezing rain last night,
but it's supposed to get up to 40* today.
So our plans are merely postponed rather than cancelled today.

Aside to that one aforementioned downside of the snow,
I was ever so thankful to see some more of the stuff.
Snow this time of year is almost as precious as Christmas snow.
(I did say almost.)
You never know if it may be the last time you see it 'til next winter.

Because, sure as the sun will rise tomorrow,
Spring is on it's way.
How do I know?

"While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease."
Genesis 8:22

What a faithful God we serve.

Isn't this carnation lovely?
Such a vintage-y pink color.
Grandma Lou's wedding bouquet was carnations,
so they hold a special place in my heart.
Of course, it's indisputably acknowledged that daisies are the friendliest flower.
But, I do think these are rather chummy themselves. ;)

My paper snowflakes will soon be coming down & packed away 'til December.
Isn't my new cloud pillow the cuteness?
It has a sad face on t'other side.
(75% off clearance at Hallmark, what?!)

Well, I suppose one good thing about the freezing rain...
it gave me a chance to write this meandering little post.
^_^
Watch your step - it's slippery out there!

  1. I was so happy to see the snow Sunday also, though I did miss the wonderful fellowship at our church. I love being snowed in, but it's even better when we're all home together-such a blessing. It really touches me how you loved dear Grandma Lou as evidenced by your comment on her wedding flowers-I didn't know they were carnations=) You're such a blessing&comfort!

  2. Lovely post Miss Michelle! I must admit I am looking forward to spring. I officially announced to Adam yesterday that I had cabin fever. : ) Here is NY the snow can stick around well into April. It is not uncommon to see some snow in May even. It is snowing quite hard right now. Your carnations are beautiful, and what a sweet connection with your grandma.

    1. Thank you, Sarah! I'm very much looking forward to Spring too. (Though I haven't reached "cabin fever" yet.) :) The birds are singing their Springtime songs here in IL so it can't be too far away! :D

  4. What a beautiful, one might almost say zen-like, way to approach the last snowfalls of the year. It's true. Though we may rush through this time of the year, it will be months upon months before we get to savour the perks of winter (of which there are plenty) and it's worth taking stock of them while they're here and remembering the good in the season as we tuck away for another several months.

*PS* I've been meaning to tell you, I'm thoroughly head-over-heels in love with the colours and floral design of your blog.

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment, Jessica! ^_^ There's always something to give thanks for in every season. Discontentment and complaining only make us miss the great blessings we could be enjoying if we'd just look around and be grateful! :)

Oh! And, I'm rather head over heels myself over my rose background! hee hee. I just love roses. My thumbs aren't as green as I would wish them to be so I have to settle for rose printed things until I gain the horticultural skills to grow them myself. :D
